Henry VIII 500th Anniversary of Henry VIII's Accession to the Throne

King Henry VIII is one of the most recognisable figures in English history both for his appearance and his actions during his reign.

Although not the original heir to the throne, Henry VIII became King of England in 1509, shortly before his 18th birthday. One of the first things he did as king was marry the widow of his brother, Arthur, who died when Henry was only 11. The marriage to Catherine of Aragon was famously annulled when the King broke from Rome, became the head of the Church of England and granted himself permission to divorce.

Anyone who has grown up in the UK knows what happened next, as the rhyme goes, divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived. Henry's six wives, Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard, Catherine Parr all had their own stories but it was Anne Boleyn who gave us the next greatest monarch Queen Elizabeth I.

Our Tudor range celebrates both Henry's and Elizabeth's reign. From garnet encrusted crosses to Tudor Rose stationery and from Queen Elizabeth cushions to Henry VIII mugs, there is something for every history buff.

"Accessories are a smart trick for looking slimmer. Adding bangles or a nice pair of earrings is a great way to pull together an outfit and add a tasteful splash of colour to your look. Highlight your good bits! If you have a slender neck, wear an eye-catching necklace which will also draw the eye up to your face and away from your wobbly bits."
